Join Dr Martha Swift for a special session on essay writing and academic skills (for non-STEM students) next Tuesday evening. Your first year of university comes with new expectations for your writing, essays and assessments. Your tutors will expect more complex arguments, clearer expression, and more sophisticated use of secondary material. You might be trying out new subjects, and you’ll definitely be writing your longest essays yet. Come along on Tuesday for an introduction to forming uni-level arguments, using and referencing sources, and writing for academic audiences in your first year.

Dr Martha Swift is a Visiting Fellow at the United States Study Center and a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Oxford. At Oxford, she teaches English and World Literatures and tutors undergraduate and master’s students in writing and academic skills.
